I received the notice that I need to apply for the dual genre program by October 15th, so I am working on the application. I have a draft set of poems on a new theme developed, I just have to find where the file is to send it in. In the process of doing so, I found I am at +30000 words on my memoir but still have eleven situational areas to write and then all the reflective material. Since the entire memoir is supposed to be 125 pages, that means I'm long but the good news is much of what I have written isn't very tight and can be trimmed a great deal and probably will be as I go forth and find fascinating facts. I'm beginning to see my framework appear. After that, I need to decide upon France or not.
Outside of all that, I feel my age. I am much slower about multi-tasking and eventually I just need to go to bed. All the smaller stuff has been set aside while I just write. If I had been published way back when I finished my first novel, I could be just working on the next and making everyone happy. Instead, I'm supposed to maintain an empire of material with no pay and no time.
Sure, what am I doing anyway? Just because I am not doing what everyone else is doing, does not mean that I am doing nothing. And just because someone is doing one thing, and all the other somebodies are doing something else, doesn't mean I should do all of them, too. Despite my reputation for having a lot of projects in the fire, I do only work one at a time.
I did develop a list of market items (it ran over 50 items) that can be put together against the calls for content, maybe during my week for writing I will do some of those, too.
