I had a few days in November to just write and I managed another 7000 words or so, I'm at approximately the halfway point, unless it grows out of scope.
This third novel is a change for me, working solely with a single Point of View character, with narrative, and its looking to be an epic saga.
The main problem with the November drafts was after a hiatus of 3 years on it, I'd forgotten the full cast names. Just before putting it on hold, I did some name investigation through my Chinese dictionary. Then I went off to Antarctica.

The main problem with the November drafts was after a hiatus of 3 years on it, I'd forgotten the full cast names. Just before putting it on hold, I did some name investigation through my Chinese dictionary. Then I went off to Antarctica.
My story moves across a lot of landscape and deals with environmental issues. Because of the plot was linear, I've had to pay attention to my plot points and get back to connecting it into my thene. I have a subplot that I want to add to the drama but it must follow the main theme and that has been migrating, too.
Is it easy to return to a story set aside?
For me, yes, I've never really set it aside, it's always in the background with much of my reading going to support the story. The research ends up providing setting, action, conflict, science and the scientific method at work.
